Description

It's been about a year since I did the Hydreigons and Dragonites, hasn't it 8'| welp.
I asked around on my twitter ( @ ZhoidArts ) for suggestions regarding variation sheets and one of the ones that came up was Gyarados! So here we go.

Standard
A basic Gyarados. A sea serpent with a vile and violent temper, known to have destroyed towns that happened to be caught in their rampages. Evolves from Magikarp.

Mangrove
A more muddled and slightly smaller variant than its standard relative, Mangrove Gyaradoses live, true to their name, at swampy areas, slithering between growths of vegetation and catching other water types with their heightened senses of pressure. Highly elusive and rarely seen outside their murky habitats, some collectors and trainers seek them out as a challenge.

Bone
Usually inhabiting underground rivers and cave lakes, some of these confusing creatures have occasionally washed up onto the surface when they've taken a wrong turn and ended out in the open. Completely sightless from birth, the bone crest adorning a Gyarados' forehead grows thick and covers the entire front of the head with this variant. Note: Not suitable for trainers' companions as their blindness and species-wide vile nature makes for a very poor combo for taming these creatures.

River
Due to their sleek bodybuild and vibrant blue color, River Gyaradoses are popular among those who want to take up a challenge and take an 'unsuitable tempered' mon into the contest scheme. Purely a freshwater variant, River Gyaradoses are known for the famous 'waterfall climbing' trick when moving around and migrating from one hunting ground to the other, and looking for mates. Also popular among battle trainers due to their impressive looks. Deemed to be slightly more intelligent than the average Gyarados.

Icebreaker
Found in arctic waters, Icebreaker Gyaradoses are quite the sight when breaching the frozen waters. Often housing schools of dozens, even hundreds of Magikarp around them, these thick, somewhat slow serpents are fairly docile and unresponsive for a Gyarados. Preying on bigger prey than the average 'dos, they prefer fatty, energy rich prey such as Sealeos, Dewgong and even the rare Wailmer. When cooperating, these beasts have been known to take down Wailords on their migration, only to eat their fill and leave the carcass in the water to nourish whatever other wildlife happens by.

Stormrider
Larger and sturdier than the other variants, Stormriders live out at the open oceans plowing through the waves and diving into impressive depths while hunting. Rarely coming into contact with humans due to their difficult to access territories, these Gyaradoses have been known to hit cargo ships trespassing onto their living or hunting areas. Due to their large size, sturdy body and impressive strength, there are always trainers willing to brave the oceans to even find a Stormrider Magikarp to raise, and hopefully tame. When succesfully trained, they pack a punch no other Gyarados variant can quite match. In addition, this variant seems to have an affinity for Electric type attacks and trainers raising them have found it very easy to get them to learn moves such as Thunder, often proving useful in certain sorts of team matchups.

Emperor
Sporting impressive, beautiful colors, don't let this serpent fool you. Emperor Gyaradoses are known to be some of the most vicious, bullheaded creatures in the serpent family. Fairly intelligent, they make it very clear they don't want any threats in their territory. Residing by colorful coral reefs, these mon have incredibly sharp, slightly serrated and rough crests that have been known to leave daring trainers, collectors and scientists nasty injuries from their attacks. True to their vibrant alert coloring, their flesh has been deemed poisonous and unsuitable for consumption. Unlike any other Gyarados variant known to date, Emperors have been proven to be able to learn Poison Fang as part of their movesets. Whenever one of these creatures takes residence near a popular tourist site reef, divers are instructed to refrain from venturing into the water before the authorities can, if possible, move the serpent to a more suitable and secluded area or otherwise dispose of it. Due to their intelligence and horrible temper, these mon are not often seen in the battle and/or contest scenes.

Voidstalker
One of, if not the most bizarre known variation to date, Voidstalkers take residence deep in the dark ocean trenches where they lure in prey close with their light-emitting, prehensile whiskers before striking with lethal agility and accuracy. Very little is known of these serpents as deepsea research has proven difficult when tracking a large, agile mon such as Gyarados. Able to unhinge their jaws, they're known to prey on Relicanth and Lanturn, occasionally venturing higher to snatch an unlucky Sharpedo or even preying on standard Gyaradoses. Due to their soft body and highly elusive nature, they're hard to find... Before they find you. Due to the problems posed by the enormous change in pressure, Voidstalkers aren't used by trainers on the surface. Few have been captured for research reasons and kept at aquariums, but their lifespans are drastically shortened whenever brought up from the depths of the ocean, making raising them in captivity near impossible.

Prince
In their attempt of selective breeding to create a less erratic and more obedient serpent to be a pet instead of a tool, humans created the Prince. Often drastically smaller than the standard variant (some only growing up to three feet in length), they're also lovingly(?) called Miniature and/or 'Domestic' Gyarados. Often bearing resemblance to their Magikarp form in their body structure and the occasional blotches or areas of red in their coloration, Princes often appear stumpy and somewhat apathetic in comparison to the rest of the Gyarados family. Some people deem their breeding morally questionable, as Princes are often completely unable to support themselves in the wild due to the lack of normal Gyarados instincts and their stumpy sparse teeth, so the Magikarp/Gyarados released into the nature are usually only fodder for other predators.

Jumper
Jumpers live true to their dual flying typing. Sporting impressive fins on their backs and sides, these Gyarados are able to leap out of the water to astounding heights, gliding impressive distances and even using this skill to cross islands and peninsulas on their migration. Popular with certain trainers, they are fast and agile in their movements. Sometimes one happens to miscalculate the amount of height and wind needed for a glide and lands inland, having to slither its way to the next adequate body of water to make another jump and continue forth. On areas known to be on the migration routes of these creatures, insurance companies have learned to start ruling out the infamous 'a Gyarados landed on my property' incident. Every now and then, authorities need to assist a serpent that has landed in the middle of a residental area, or across roads, causing blockages in traffic and hazards to passing humans.

This is awesome! they are all great! (minus the prince...eww.)

But man crime rate are up on Jumper areas since insurance companies do not want to pay for accidents....meaning people will not want to live in jumper areas anymore...(love them Jumper variants.)
